WHEREAS, Kumite Classic Entertainment Inc. is paving the way for healthy active lifestyles in Pennsylvania and abroad. As an industry leader, the company sponsors the annual Pittsburgh Sports & Fitness Festival, highlighting proper nutrition and bringing national awareness to many health related concerns including the growing problem of obesity; and

WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Region will embrace healthy physically fit lifestyles on May 26 and 27 at The Monroeville Expo Mart. Physical fitness and sports builds self-confidence and boosts the overall health and wellness of our community. May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, and Kumite will take time out to recognize local athletes who are making a difference. These unsung heroes encourage their peers to become determined and dedicated. Their mission is to build champions in life; and

WHEREAS, The programs emphasize the importance of regular physical activity among both children and adults. The fitness extravaganza seeks to showcase individuals and organizations that are empowering people to make positive choices towards living a more balanced and healthy lifestyle. The festival collaborates with various industry professionals and educators on comprehensive and sustainable approaches to preventing health problems; and

WHEREAS, The event provides an atmosphere for fans of all ages to interact with modern day heroes including: professional athletes, Olympians, sports celebrities, fitness icons, and world record holders. These positive role models encourage the community to be and goal oriented; and

WHEREAS, The prestigious Kumite Classic is noted as one of the most exciting sports and fitness weekends in North America. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience featuring over 15 sports & fitness championships and events including: The Fitness Pittsburgh Pageant, Figure Pageant, Model America Search, Natural Bodybuilding, Martial Arts, Arm Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Boxing, Dance, Cheerleading, Jump Rope, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Strongman and more. It's a community and family oriented weekend filled with crowd participation and skill contests that feature basketball, soccer, football, and baseball. The cutting edge consumer expo provides an opportunity for attendees to learn about the latest fitness & health trends, products, and services.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh acknowledges and commends the work and accomplishments of Kumite Classic Entertainment Inc; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim May 26 and 27, 2006, as “Sports and Fitness Days” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, in recognition of May as the National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, the Pittsburgh region will celebrate the annual “Pittsburgh Sports & Fitness Festival” on May 25-26 at the Monroeville ExpoMart; and

WHEREAS, the event, sponsored by Kumite Classic Entertainment, Inc., provides an atmosphere for fans of all ages to interact with modern day heroes including professional athletes, Olympians, sports celebrities, fitness icons, and world record holders; and

WHEREAS, this unique, multifaceted extravaganza encompasses all aspects of health, wellness, extreme sports, modeling, and fitness into a one-of-a-kind expo displaying competition and demonstrations in body building, fitness pageants, beauty pageants, weight lifting, martial arts, arm wrestling, extreme sports, jiu-jitsu, dance, and fitness modeling; and

WHEREAS, the programs emphasize the importance of regular physical activity among both children and adults, and the event showcases individuals and organizations that are empowering people to make positive choices towards living a more balanced and healthy lifestyle;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby proclaims May 25-26, 2007 as “Sports & Fitness Days” in Allegheny County and recognizes the month of May as “National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.” This Council applauds Kumite Classic Entertainment for raising the level of awareness of national physical fitness and sports in this region.
